My Background

Yalda is a senior counsellor, psychotherapist, trauma therapist, and specialist in family and couples therapy, as well as alcohol and other drug interventions. Yalda has dedicated 20 years of her life to training in mindfulness, meditation, and as a Reiki educator, all driven by her passion for consciousness and her desire to help others discover meaningful ways to live.
Yalda is trained in several psychological therapies, including Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Systemic Therapy, somatic therapy, and Narrative Therapy

My Expertise

Yalda completed her education in psychology in India before moving to Australia, where she earned a Master’s degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Subsequently, she obtained her PhD from the University of Sydney in the Faculty of Social Sciences, specializing in Mental Health, Alcohol, and Other Drugs.
Yalda has considerable clinical skills, having worked with the Drug and Alcohol Multicultural Education Centre (DAMEC) and in her private practice. Currently, in addition to her private practice, she works full-time at Hills Private Hospital as a Counselling Mental Health Team Leader, Senior Counsellor, and Supervisor. Yalda is a PACFA-accredited clinical supervisor, providing clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, and group therapists. She has provided clinical supervision for many student psychotherapists and counsellors.

Whom Yalda want to work with?

Yalda is passionate about supporting individuals on their journeys and empowering them through respect, empathy, and unconditional positive regard. I work with youth, adults, families, couples, and individuals facing mental health challenges. Yalda experiences includes supporting those dealing with work cover issues, domestic violence, addiction, migration, and refugees, as well as individuals referred by courts or community services. Yalda is also assist people looking to apply for a Work Development Order to address their fines.
It has been a privilege to work with such a diverse range of clients across various ages, cultures, and issues. Yalda is have helped individuals and couples struggling with a wide array of challenges, including trauma, depression, anxiety, loss and bereavement, relationship issues, couple counselling, family therapy, workplace difficulties, adjustments to life transitions, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, unexplained physical complaints, sexual difficulties, sexuality issues, attention deficit disorder, and substance abuse, among others.
Yalda’ approach to therapy is mindful, holistic and relational. Yalda believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist is the key to healing. Yalda strive to create a safe, supportive and comfortable environment where difficult issues can be discussed with confidentiality. Yalda use different modalities depending on the needs of the client and utilise mindfulness techniques to raise the level of awareness and clarity, which leads to conscious choices and change.
Yalda work in a compassionate and collaborative framework helping clients make sense of their inner emotional life and how this impacts on their self-esteem and relationships. Yalda assist the client by going to the source of their distress by exploring how they think, feel and behave. These processes are often unconscious and thus can maintain a person’s internal suffering causing emotional pain, personal unhappiness & relationship disharmony. The work involves learning to manage strong emotions and forming a balanced perspective of oneself and the world. This approach facilitates greater self-acceptance, healing and personal growth.
